MISSION: - To ensure a literate, economically stable and HI/AIDS free community-
This is only possible by involving the community members, community
Leadership, plus a diverse range of supporting donors (both local and international)
GOALS : The goals of RIPHEP are:
1) To ensure access of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment for vulnerable groups in Kenya’s poor rural setting: This is by closing the gap that continues to persist between communities and health care systems
2) To improve the quality and delivery of education to the illiterate adult group: This is through the community adult education programme.
3) To ensure that even the poorest African child in Kenya’s rural areas receives quality education.
4) To empower the community through developmental programmes so as reduce poverty levels
5) To set-up school based HIV/AIDS awareness clubs (in primary, secondary, post-secondary institutions) by help of teachers and tutors.
6) To give basic health services to the community e.g. first aid, through a well maintained medical kit.
VISION:
That in the next 5 years, RIPHEP will provide a more strategized and successful approach to issues largely known to be affecting the community and ensuring their subsequent reduction: This includes poverty, illiteracy and HIV/AIDS.
OBJECTIVES:
1) To set-up and manage the non-formal education centers to take care of the illiterate adults.
2) To teach and inform the youth on the need for behavior change as a way of reducing HIV/AIDS spread/prevalence.
3) To mobilize and sensitize the community on the need for testing and knowing ones HIV/AIDS status.
4) To foster parental involvement in the fight against HIV/AIDS: This by encouraging them to be open and ready to discuss sexual and HIV/AIDS issues with their children.
5) To ensure that the rural poorest who cannot afford hospital bills get some sort of basic heath care services through our home based team.
6) To ensure that all poor school going children receive good quality education
7) To set-up and manage an HIV/AIDS centre so as to ensure that all community members get access to all the literature and journals on HIV/AIDS.
8) To explain to the community members the relationship between HIV/AIDS and poverty and their socio-economic effects to both the community and the nation at large.
